Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a form of cancer that may occur in many different organs, including the skin, lips, mouth, esophagus, urinary bladder, prostate, lungs, vagina, and cervix. It is also called as “Epidermoid Carcinoma” and “Squamous -cell Epithelioma. It is one of the most common types of skin cancer. Women frequently get Squamous Cell Carcinoma on their lower legs. It is a malignant tumor of squamous epithelium.
Signs and symptoms of SCCs include:
- Lump on skin
- Lesion crusty like that may bleed
- Sore (Non-healing)
- Flat, reddish scale-like patch that grows slowly
- Lump under the nail
Risk factors For Squamous Cell Carcinoma:
- Long-term sun exposure
- History of Severe sunburns
- Older age
- Exposure to X-rays
- Exposure to chemicals such as Arsenic.
